Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa (Rh)
Introduction : Imam Abu Hanifa (Rh) was one of the greatest Muslim
scholars. The arrival of Abu Hanifa was a matter of joy for the Muslims because
it was a transitional period for them. In the field of Islamic law, his
contribution is not forgettable. For this reason, he is called 'Imam-e-Azami.
Birth and early life :Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa was born in the
city of Kufah in Iraq in 80 Hizri (in 699/700AD). His father's name was Sabin
and Jawta Al Kufi was his grandfather. In his early life, he was exceptionally
meritorious. Abu Hanifa became a great Muslim scholar and got the title of
Imam-e-Azam in his later life.
Education : At his
very early life, he became a follower of Hazrat Anas Ibn Maleque (R). At first,
he memorized the holy Quran completely. In 100 Hizri, he admitted in the
academy of Hammad Ibn Solayman (Rh). Later on, he studied Ilm Fikah. He also studied the Ilm Hadis, Kalam, Balagat, Nahu, Saraf and Ilm
Tafsir deeply.
His activities : After the death of his teacher Imam Hammad
(Rh), in 120 Hizri, Abu Hanifa was replaced for that post and devoted himself
in teaching. After working hard for long twenty two years, he wrote a book
named Kutube Abu Hanifa in 144 Hizri. Later on, his students composed about ten
thousand Mas'aala on the basis of that hook. By working hard for long thirty
years, Abu Hanifa established Hanafi Mazhab with the help of another forty
genious Alems. The Mas'aalas of Hanafi
Mazhab depend on not only the Quran and the Sunnah but also on the logic.
Character : From his early life, imam Abu Hanifa possessed a
moral character. In his personal life, he was self-reliant and kind hearted. He
never showed temper with any person.
Death : In 150 Hizri (in 770AD), when Abu Hanifa was a
prisoner, the autocratic ruler Mansur killed him with poison,
Conclusion : As a
Muslim, every one of us should respect this great schoolar, the founder of
Hanafi Mazhab e muslims will remember his contribution forever.
